Registrations

What is the registration deadline? Until when can I register on site?

The online registration deadline for the 34th edition of the Nyon Triathlon to be held on August 5 and 6, 2023 is Friday, August 4, 2023 at 5 pm (excluding National League and Youth League). Registrations made after July 24, 2023 will be subject to a surcharge of CHF 15 (except for the Tri Kids). On-site registration will be possible up to 45 minutes before the start of the relevant category (subject to availability).

It is perfectly possible to pay for your registration with a foreign bank account. Our partner Datasport offers a wide range of payment options when you register.

The list of registrants is available on our partner Datasport’ s website as soon as registrations have been accepted. Depending on your payment method, it may take a few days before your entry is visible (between 3 and 5 days).

If no cancellation insurance has been taken out when registering online, no refund will be made by the organizer (even on presentation of a medical certificate).

Should the competitor not possess the required equipment (wetsuit if required, hard hat, etc.) or in the event of cancellation of the event due to weather conditions, force majeure, external events or extraordinary circumstances, no refund will be made in principle.

Any change to a registration will be billed to the participant at CHF 15. This amount must be paid in advance by Twint or in cash when picking up the race number (the race number will not be given to the participant without payment).

Bibs and licenses

Bib numbers can be collected on Friday August 4 from 5pm to 8pm, then on Saturday August 5 from 8am until 45 minutes before the start of the race, and on Sunday August 6 from 7am. The presentation or purchase of a StartPass (license – annual or daily) is compulsory for the Olympic Distance (individual race) and National League race categories. For registrations made less than 14 days before the event, don’t forget to present your postal receipt or e-banking payment as proof of payment when collecting your race number.

No medical certificate is required, even if you don’t have a license. However, you must be covered by accident or civil liability insurance.

Participants in National League and Olympic Distance individual events must hold a Swiss or foreign triathlon license. A daily license can be obtained when registering online.

No, but the purchase of a daily license at registration is equivalent to authorization to take part in an official Swiss Triathlon Federation competition. All foreign licenses are accepted, without the need to purchase a Swiss Triathlon daily license.

No medical certificate is required, nor even proof of membership of a sports club.

A foreign license effectively dispenses with the need to purchase a Swiss license to take part in Triathlon Series events.

Races

Yes, time limits are defined for the Short Distance and Olympic Distance categories (seerulespage). You are free to finish your race, but you do so on your own responsibility, on a course open to traffic and without the presence of volunteers or medical equipment; total timekeeping cannot be guaranteed.

Wetsuits are forbidden if the water temperature is 22°C or higher, and compulsory if the water temperature is 15.9°C or lower. The decision is taken each race day by the referees and communicated by the speakers 1 hour before the start.

As a general rule, and to be on an equal footing with the other teams, it would be best if there were three of you. If you can’t find anyone, we can exceptionally accept only two of you in a relay. Note that running two of the three disciplines is only a problem if you swim, pass the baton to a cyclist and then the cyclist passes the baton to you to run.

If you’re looking for a relay operator, we suggest you post it on our Facebook page, where other athletes might be interested. In case you still haven’t found a third person on race day, incomplete teams can announce themselves at the info booth or directly to the announcer.

The use of assisted and electric bicycles is prohibited.

For safety reasons and in accordance with Swiss Triathlon regulations, it is not permitted to use headphones when cycling or running.
