History of the Nyon Triathlon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Nyon Triathlon was born around a table one evening in November 1988. Two friends set themselves the challenge of organizing a triathlon within 8 months. And so the 1st Nyon Triathlon was born on August 27, 1989. At that time, the event welcomed 300 competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, as demand has grown, the capacity of the bike park has had to be adapted to accommodate up to 1,500 participants!<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

The cycling and walking routes were adapted in the early years to meet increasingly stringent safety standards, while offering competitors new, demanding and varied itineraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make the event as welcoming as possible for spectators and athletes, various adaptations have been made to the infrastructure, notably in terms of reception, catering, refreshments, entertainment and signage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A handful of volunteers were involved in the 1st edition, and more than 600 were active not only during the event, but also before and after the race, setting up and dismantling the infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Organizing Committee, currently made up of some 35 people, has seen 4 successive presidents at its head, with no detriment to the event.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n\n

2011<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Vanni Vogel has decided to step down as Chairman of the Organizing Committee. Yannick Grivel, then President of the Cercle des Nageurs de Nyon (CNN), takes over responsibility for the organization. In addition, the event is no longer run by the Association des Soci\u00e9t\u00e9s Sportives Nyonnaises (ASSN) but by the CNN, which comprises three sports sections, including triathlon.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \n\n

Since 2014<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since January 2014, the Nyon Triathlon has been a non-profit association in its own right and no longer depends on the Cercle des Nageurs de Nyon. The association’s articles of association are available here.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \n\n

2015<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Nyon Triathlon has become the largest triathlon in Switzerland, with 2,293 participants of all ages.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \n\n

2016<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
