Triathlon

The triathlon consists of three disciplines, which are performed back to back; swimming, cycling and running.

The competition was born in 1975 in the United States, on Fiesta Island close to San Diego, with a distance of 800m swimming, 8 km cycling and 8 km running. However, it is in Hawaii that the triathlon wrote its first page in history, which would be called the "Ironman".

The 18th of February 1978, the impossible was achieved and Gordon Haller enters in the legend by becoming the first Hawaiian Iron Man. He finishes the 225 km of this challenge in 11 hours 46 minutes and 58 seconds. Twelve of the fifteen engaged competitors finished the race.

Today, the triathlon has made itself an important place in worldwide sport. It is present in 100 countries. The distances have been adapted to allow the young and less young find a new balance of air, earth and water. This sport continues to make its way. It has grown recognition by blending will power and show. It breathes life and inspires the audience to dream.
