The Nyon triathlon came into creation around a table one night in November 1988, when two friends bet on organizing a triathlon in 8 months. That is how the first Nyon triathlon was born on the 27th August 1989. The first event welcomed 300 competitors.

Through the years, the demand has been growing. The capacity of the bike park had to be adapted to welcome up to 1'500 participants! The cycling and running routes went through modifications during the first few years due to stricter safety regulations imposed and offered new routes more selective and varied for the competitors.

The infrastructures were adapted to make the event more popular and to offer optimal conditions for the growing number of the spectators and participants; most specifically, the welcome, the registration area, refreshments, animation and the signalization.

The hand full of volunteers has now grown to more than 300 volunteers who are not only active during the event but also before and after the race to set up and dismantle the infrastructures.
